Dag Øistein Endsjø. The History of Immortality

Dag Øistein Endsjø. The History of Immortality
In “The History of Immortality”, religious historian Dag Øistein Endsjø studies a theme which has always been central in human history: immortality. From the immortal soul in Greek religion and the immortal body in Christianity, to vampires and zombies, Endsjø draws lines between religion, literature, science, and pop culture in a dialogue with our daily attempts to live and be young forever: training, healthy eating, and plastic surgery. It is a pattern that repeats itself through time and cultures in different forms: immortality is a theme that was already present in texts from Mesopotamia and has always been an important element in the myths and folklore of different populations throughout history.
The book was translated in Latvian by Jolanta Pētersone with the support of Norla.
